I still enjoy working there and seeing and interacting with the little kids during the day. It's great to bring a big smile to a little girl or boy by paying them a compliment or just paying some attention to them. Plan to work for a few more years. I job share with a woman whose children are small and the job share gives her time to spend with her kids and also keeps down child care costs.

After 7th grade (1957) my family moved to Duluth Minnesota where I attended Jr. High and High School. From there it was on to Valparaiso University. I graduated with a degree in Political Science and Economics in 1966, then attended Syracuse University (Maxwell School) where I earned an MPA degree. After a brief stop in Chicago, I joined the USAF for what I thought would be four years but turned out to be six. What I didn't realize was that during "times of war" I was serving at the "pleasure of the President", and thus was involuntarily extended for another two years. I was stationed in Michigan for three years and then served in the Far East for three years. the latter tour required that I travel extensively in the western Pacific, which, as I look back, was a very broadening experience.I returned to the States in mid-1973 and eventually took a job with a bank in Detroit. I've been in the commercial lending business since, in Detroit for 22 years and in Chicago since 1996. My job, at least for the last 10 years, has required me to travel nationally. For the most part I've actually enjoyed that....perhaps a "wanderlust" developed from my Air Force days. I've been married to Barbara for 30 years (no children) and now live in Elmhurst IL, a Chicago suburb.

A note from Bob - "Some good memories from my first and second grade and some not so good memories. The not good memories are why my parents agreed to transferring me to Marquette Grade School which was a couple of blocks from my home. The most memorable moment was in 2nd grade when I thought school was over at recess time, walked home and my mom asked why I was home so early-needless to say I went back to school but was a bit tardy-those were the days when spare the rod/spoil the child was the rule-enough said."
