Thank you for your question. There have been two large outcome studies of the Lidcombe Program that show that children who start the Program before they turn 6 years benefit from it. And it is the case that the program was developed for this age group. A much smaller study suggests that children who are somewhat older than this still respond to the Program but not so well. Based on the available evidence, then, it is preferable to implement the Program before children reach 6 years of age. We are conducting some more research at present at the Australian Stuttering Research Centre to learn more about the responsiveness of school-age children to the program, but the results are not available yet.
