Thank you for the question. I would say that almost all parents are reassured, and are prepared to wait for up to a year, once they understand that (1) the child’s stuttering will respond to the Lidcombe Program, (2) responsiveness is unlikely to be reduced by waiting for up to a year after onset, and (3) the child and family will be actively monitored during the waiting period.
