hi maggie - thanks for the note. yes, absolutely - we need to broaden our research base beyond those who DO participate in support groups so we can also learn about those who DON'T -- we need to know WHY they don't (distance, cost, not knowing about it, lack of interest, stigma, etc.)...
Problem is...we don't know how to reach those folks! they're not on SLP's caseloads, they're not in the support groups...they're just out there "in the world" -- and so that makes it harder to contact them...
I'd love to see a dialogue on this discussion list or thread about how we might contact them... any and all suggestions would be most welcome.
Again, thanks for the comments! Will look forward to further discussions about this.
