The description of treatment afforded to people who stutter provided by Joseph Nsubuga is truly astounding and appalling to me. I had no idea that in less-educated and poorer nations, stuttering is not just a problem with speech; it is a conflict with the Gods and could quite easily result in the death of the person who stutters. What a severe consequence from being born with an attribute that does not even harm other people! It’s so hard to imagine what it is like in third world countries; it seems that we discriminate enough in the United States.
