Hi Anita! I am a graduate student at New York University studying speech-language pathology. This is my first year of graduate school and starting off I have been unsure of the area or population that I would eventually like to work with. Your story has really made an impact on me. I want to be the one to help children like you. I want to make sure that other kids do not have to go through what you went through. Something that I forsee as an obstacle in my future is dealing with parents of children who stutter whose main goal for their child is fluency. I believe that you were extremely successful in overcoming your demons and not hiding your stuttering anymore, which would be a wonderful achievement for any child. What would be your advice for these parents who like your parents insist that their child stops stuttering all together or those who think that the only way for their child to succeed is through fluency?
