This article has a lot of good information for clinicians and was interesting to read. There are those parents, like you said, who really want their child to be in therapy, but the child may not want to. You also mentioned that at this point you would discontinue services as long as the child is aware of what "lies ahead". If the child is not engaged in therapy I could understand to simply discontinue services because there would be no effective outcome, however, what would you do if you are unsure of whether or not the child understands whats next and whether he/she understands the choice they are making? Also, what types of counseling would you offer to those parents?
