Thank you, Lauren, for sharing your awareness. Being sensitive to a child's feelings, expectations, awareness, and self-acceptance when introducing new experiences and expectation is vital to do so in a useful and healthy way. We must always think about the long-term effect on chilren's personal development as well as the on their skill development when we set about to teach them, not just the short-term outcomes. And remember: Children learn a lot, perhaps, most, of "what" and "how" "to do" by observing those, especially the adults, around them. Best. Ellen-Marie Silverman
