I am a grad student at the Univeristy of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. First of all, I would like to thank you for all of the wonderful insight on this topic. I am very intrigued by this population and am excited to learn more. I have had the opportunity to work with a boy who has autism and as I think about how long and hard we worked to elicit verbal communication, it seems that disfluency would be taken with a grain of salt. In my client's case, I feel that if disfluency would have been addressed, the positive strides we made with verbal communication would have declined. Do you feel that one's speech may decline if we address fluency issues too quickly?
