Anita: Your article is truly fantastic and a wonderful story. Though I do not stutter, I grew up with a difficulty of my own that lasted most of junior high and high school. I was so frustrated, exhausted, alone, and embarrassed by it; however once my mother became aware, she was always extremely supportive throughout it all and even continues today. Going through those years I would have given anything in the world to change it or be different, but my mother said everything is for a reason and one day I will learn the purpose of it all. Today, I understand the pain I went through led me to be able recognize those who have the trouble I did. I am able to provide support, a listening ear, and the hope that things will turn out alright. Though those years were tough, I would not be the compassionate person toward such difficulties as I am today. Trials are difficult, but they make us who we are and how we treat other people. They sometimes create such an openness, compassion, and empathy that those without trials never have the privilege to experience. Yesterday I would have changed me, but today I am who I am and happy. Thanks for your inspiring story! :)
