A child can bring a friend anytime he/she feels ready. But, I try not to have kids come to the same session too often...1. It loses its effectiveness and 2. We need time for therapy! But, here are some other things we do...Each May, to celebrate May is Better Hearing and Speech Month, we have Speech Parties. Here, again, speech kids can invite a friend. But, it's a much more elaborate activity. We decorate the room, write invitations, bring food (I ask parents to send stuff), and children in speech are hosts to their "guests." We practice carry-over of the feeling of fluency control in relaxed, social settings. It's fun!
