My question or comment is on principle #6, the ‘want’ for a person to continue with therapy or discontinue therapy. I understand it is directed primarily for middle and high school students but what about higher education students? I am a first year graduate student, and I have a client who has attended each of our weekly sessions, but is not giving effort in sessions and does not share successes outside of the clinical setting. By his attendance of all the scheduled sessions I am assuming that he ‘wants’ his therapy but how can I motivate someone to give it his best (or be a participant in his therapy) in and out of the clinical session?
