Vicky, Good question. Yes, I have experienced parents who either did not wish to be involved or who did not find it easy or comfortable to work with their child. In these situations, there are several options. Finding other important people in the child's life is one option. A teacher, a school secretary, lunch-line worker, custodian, peer, etc. can be a good way to help the child transfer skills at school. A grandparent, sibling or best friend can be options outside of school. Or, with some children, I work with them to develop a plan for transfer that allows them to 'go solo'. It depends on the child and your access to other people in the child's life to make any of these options work. I hope this answers your question. Best wishes as you continue your education in this exciting field. Regards, Lynne
