When should family involvement decrease?

I agree that getting parents and other individuals involved in this manner can be extremely helpful to the therapeutic process – both for the child and the family. At what point, though, should families stop engaging in therapeutic methods themselves? When will the child need to recognize that his family does not, in fact, need to use the same therapeutic speech techniques that he uses? While family involvement may provide support and promote generalization, the child’s eventual recognition of this fact will also be an important part of the therapeutic process.
