Glad you liked my article, Trish. With regard to motivation of the client, a lot depends on the therapist. He/she should be warm and friendly of course, and should show empathy and respect for the child, not "talking down" to the child. There should be a clear explanation to the child of the goals of therapy and the reasons for them. The therapist should be optimistic but not unrealistic about the changes that the client can make with steady work and staying focussed. Best to you!
