I have an older brother who is blind. He has struggled with disability services in the US at Universities. I feel ignorance is a major problem and the uncertainty that some people choose to feel about disabilities in general. Reading this article made me think that disability services seem to be "ranking" disabilities. What disability is more important to acknowledge than others? This blind eye attitude toward other disabilities is appalling. Do you think lack of education and resources could lead to disabilities such as communication disorders being left behind when it comes to services in colleges and universities?
