Hi Craig, great comment. I will leave that to the expert Lee, as she is an SLP and mother of a son that stutters. It is my understanding that early intervention for stuttering is best. Also, keep in mind that research suggests that 75-80% of kids who stutter during language development will naturally outgrow that. And stuttering onset is different for everyone. I didn't start until 5. I've heard of other kids who didn't start until 7, or 9, or one young woman who shared with me she didn't start stuttering until 16. I did not have consistent, good therapy as a kid. Only had it in school for 6 months in 3rd grade. Who knows what might have happened if I had had early intervention with a stuttering specialist.
