Ms. Sheneker, thank you for sharing your essay on The Lidcombe Program. I found it to be highly informative. I particularly liked that this treatment method involves the parent in treatment at home when there are limited clinical opportunities. It would encourage the parent to be an active participant in the therapy process while not giving them unreasonable tasks. This can help encourage comfort with stuttering for both the parent and child. The only concern I had was following the case study. Thomas was very involved with his therapy and knowledgeable about stuttering. Is it likely that such a high level of enthusiasm and involvement would be unusual for school age children, therefore reducing the success rate of using the Lidcombe Program? I look forward to seeing the future research concerning this treatment method!
