Dear Philip Thank you for your comment. It is an honor that someone who works with Dr Nicolelis has been reading my paper. When I said that the results of my investigation pointed to a language disorder, it was December of 2009. This paper by Reef and Sommer just came out. We may discuss that their results really contradicts what I found at that time. They tested how hearing input is integrated with the execution of motor tasks (not speech related). Dr Sommer says it may interfere with speech as well, but it has to be tested. Science is a nonstop search for what actually happens in the brain when language is transformed into motor acts. It will certainly give us better and clearer comprehension of stuttering. And, if I have to change my paradigm, don't worry. I will. As an SLP, my job is to translate into clinical procedures to my clients of what theory teaches me along the way. Would you care sharing what you think about stuttering? Do you speak Portuguese? If yes, I can send my work to you. I would very much appreciate your reading and a possible further discussion about this intriguing matter. Anelise
