This was definately an exceptional case. I completely agree that this type of activity would increase anxiety and be very difficult for a person who stutters. I suggested that she present to the teachers, mostly because she wanted them to know what really did NOT help her when she stuttered. She chose to do the 4H project and the Speech team. The principal of the HS asked if she would present to the school board. Stephanie is not a shy girl so she thought it was a good idea, although the school board presentation made her pretty nervous. If she is familiar with people, she does not get as nervous. I have not had many fluency students in my years as a school SLP but this is not something I would regularly suggest as a way to work on stuttering. Thanks for the comment and question.
