Dr. Gary Rentschler, I really enjoyed reading about covert stuttering. I think it is a very strange and interesting phenomenon that someone considers themselves a stutterer even though they show no overt symptoms such as repetitions, prolongations, or blocks. I think comparing covert stuttering to an iceberg is perfect because it makes outside observers realize there is a deeper problem that can't be seen. I feel like people who stutter covertly may be harder to treat in therapy because they must become comfortable and desensitized to their stuttering first. Thank you for sharing this information!
