Dr. Shapiro, I am a graduate clinician and found your story to be truly inspirational. I did not have a lot of experience with fluency and stuttering until my first semester in graduate school. I became extremely interested and truly inspired by all the motivating and meaningful stories told by individuals who stutter. Their strength and positive attitude is astonishing, and makes me want to strive to help others as much as possible. You mentioned some very moving quote such as we are defined “by the choices you make, how you treat others, and your character values of discipline, hard work and kindness.” Unfortunately, not enough people define others by this quote these days and I wish that was not the case. Thank you so much for sharing theses personal stories. They are heart-warming and excite me to have the opportunity to work with and help individuals like Jenifer, George and Jonathon. I also have the same dreams for people who stutter and I can only hope and wish I can do my best to make those dreams become a reality. We really can be stronger and wiser together!
