I really enjoyed reading your article and have learned many valuable tips as a future SLP. I am currently enrolled in a fluency class in my speech-language pathology graduate program. Throughout your article, I noticed that you continued to emphasize the importance of eliminating avoidance behaviors and encouraging the use of voluntary stuttering when working with adults and teenagers who stutter. Since younger children (between the ages of about 5 to 10 years old) are much less likely to make phone calls on their own or order food in a restaurant on their own, I was wondering if you had any advice on how an SLP can help young children eliminate avoidance behaviors or practice voluntary stuttering? Thank you very much for your time!
