Dr. Williams, I am a graduate clinician at the moment and recently began therapy with a 14 year old boy who stutters. In the couple of sessions we have had I have noticed that as he relaxes, everyone in the room does. This allows us to more easily discuss his stuttering, his progress, etc. As his awareness increases and he relaxes more he seems to be more fluent. This is usually when we are talking about something not related to his stuttering or there is humor involved.Because of this, I am curious to know if you find yourself telling great stories or using humor to relax yourself/your listener to avoid stuttering or to focus more on the information you are communicating rather than your stuttering? You have a great story, thank you for sharing it!
