Lothar Stolper, 236 W. Crown Lane, Ft. Wayne Indiana was born February 14, 1904 in Williamsburg, Iowa. He was the oldest child of Herman and Clara (Wiersig) Stolper. Herman Stolper was listed as teaching in the public schools in the 1920 federal census. Lothar was baptized as an infant at Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Luzerne, Benton, Iowa. He married Hulda Martha Koenig on August 23, 1925, at St. Paul's.
Mr. Stolper died on October 23, 1967, at the age of 63 due to post-operative complications in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana. He was survived by his wife of 42 years, and three daughters: Elaine (John) Rosenau of Madison, WI, Alice Peppler of Arlington Heights, IL, and Ruth (Jerry) Olson of Red Wing, MN. and 12 grandchildren Jeanne, Jon, and Misti Kicherer, and Jan Peppler; Mark, Dale, Keith, Beth, and Wayne Roseau; and Jeff, Greg and Debbie Olson; sister Ella Stolper of Minneapolis, sisters-in-law Bertha Landmeier of Grand Junction, Colorado, Clara Wilke of Seattle, Washington, Alma Wolfe and Wilma Kaiser and a brother-in-law Roland Koenig.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Martin, Elmer, and Richard Stolper.
In the 1920 census Lothar was working as a "carpenter during vacation."
Mr. Stolper graduated from Concordia College, River Forest, IL and his professional life was dedicated to teaching in Lutheran Schools. He was also an accomplished pianist and organist, and served congregations and schools (where he arranged 3-part harmony for the school choir) with these gifts.
He served three congregations and Lutheran grade schools:
Saginaw, Michigan - Mr. Lothar Stolper was organist and choir director of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Saginaw. The 1930 census reported he was living in Saginaw working as a parochial school teacher. In the 1940 census he was listed along with his wife, Elaine and Alice as a teacher in Holy Cross School in Saginaw. Ruth was probably born in Saginaw, too.
Madison, Wisconsin — member and organist at Immanuel Lutheran Church. 7th grade teacher, band and choir director at Madison Lutheran School approximately 1950-1960. Living with his family on Rutledge St.
Fort Wayne, Indiana - Peace Lutheran Church, approximately 1960 until his death.
Lothar Stolper is buried in Concordia Gardens Cemetery, Allen County, Indiana. His wife Huldah is buried beside him.
