Steve and Chris,

Wonderful paper! I liked the conversational style of the discussion - that's pretty unique in this conference.

We need to keep the pressure up on educating people about covert stuttering in the coming years. It raises the question SO MUCH on "What is stuttering?" For guys like me, it's totally obvious. But for covert stutterers like you, Chris, and Cathy O and Sarah W, the general public has a much harder time defining the line between stuttering and "normal" speech. (And all this begs the question, Is that definition really important? It may be to SLPs, but to the general public? Dunno...)

I guess we'd better start thinking about Anaheim next summer and how we're gonna approach it. I can see several approaches:

1. Repeating what we did in Boston - which was spectacular!

2. Repeating what we did but with some different "cast" members. We've long suspected that there are LOTS of truly covert stutterers out there and maybe we should give some of them a chance to participate.

3. Expand on what we did in Boston and give a lot of material we DIDN'T give in Boston. We just gave the super-basics in Boston, and maybe Anaheim is the time and place to start expanding on that topic.

4. Spawn off a couple of additional workshops on covert stuttering. We need to talk about this.

Again, great job guys! You're making wonderful progress educating people on covert stuttering!

Russ
