Hi,
Bernie's answer was nearly perfect. Stuttering therapy for me had to have TWO parts, the fluency shaping ("speech controls" we called them) and the emotional support part. Shady Trails did a good job on the first part, but never mentioned the second part in the 50's. That is probably the most important advance in stuttering therapy in the past 50 years, including the emotional and support parts. Stuttering is NOT a "voice box" problem. It's a WHOLE PERSON problem. The NSA gave me that second part nearly 30 years later. Amazing, isn't it?
Thanks for your interest!
Russ
