Thanks for the compliments Russ. But I don't think I could have done this without the support of the NSA-both the people that stutter, the non-stuttering slp's and the stuttering slp's. All three groups have had a profound effect of how I view myself professionally. I came out of school in the 1980's when the operant mode of therapy was big. I just hid out of embarrasment-one slp even told me how they had a friend that just decided to stop. Made me want to hide more. I got involved in the NSA and it helped. But meeting the slp's in the NSA (both stuttering and fluent) really helped me gain a sense of worth and validated my views and helped me to grow personally and professionally. I would name names-but I am afraid I would leave someone out.
