Your speech was highly interesting. I too wanted to please my listeners, which put even more pressure on my speech with the opposite result. I closed my eyes as if the stutter just never happened. Until I found myself and gave MYSELF the approvel to speak as I did. I also told myself I looked stupid with my eyes closed and as it didn't help a thing, why did I still do it?
I still stutter today, but I'm not making myself nor my listeners uncomfortable anymore, by speaking in my own pace and wearing my button "S-s-sure I s-s-stutter. What are y-y-you good at?", which makes it easier for all to deal with my stutter and talk about it.
I truly love your poem and I like to publish it on my homepage www.anita.se (website in Swedish...) Is that ok?
