Hi Stefan,
As my paper indicates, the poem is of unknown origin. I cannot claim to have written it, although I did amend it for inclusion in my paper. (Incidentally, I have written other poems about stuttering, which I hope to publish at some time in the future).
Public speaking was always my greatest fear - I could never have envisaged myself in that role. I have now totally overcome that fear and regularly give talks to a variety of audiences. In some cases, I have been invited to return to address an organisation for a third occasion.
If I had chosen to remain within my comfort zone, I would never have experienced the immense joy that I feel when I engage in this rewarding pastime. I don't need to prove that I can do it - I merely find it so exhilarating.
Public speaking does not just involve standing in front of a crowd. It has assisted me to improve my social and communication skills, while also greatly enhancing my life.
Speaking is now fun.
Thank you for your valued comments.
Kindest regards
Alan Badmington
