Hi Christine,
Question 1: How did I reach the point in my life where I realized that I needed to get out of my comfort zone?
Well! my wife was the principal instigator. I withdrew from social activities following a car accident and my speech had deteriorated. She was aware that I was not leading a fulfilled existence in many areas and suggested that I might wish to make one final attempt to come to terms with the stutter that had seriously impeded my life for so many years.
I was reluctant to change the status quo but, after much sceptism, I finally decided to make the effort. It was at that point that I acquired the new technique and tools that I refer to in my paper.
So, it was due to her encouragement that I embarked upon the course of action that I outlined. I composed the following verse in recognition of the part she played:
My stutter has been such a load In childhood the sad seeds were sowed But, thanks to my wife I have a new life An indelible debt she is owed.
Question 2: How can you impress the importance of stepping outside their comfort zones upon your clients?
Simple, why not give them a copy of my paper;-) But, as I have mentioned in other responses, they must want to make the change.
Many thanks for your post.
Kindest regards
Alan
