I posted my reply before I answered your other question. Yes, public speaking helped me to be more fluent, although I had already achieved fairly good fluency at that point already (although my rapid speech pattern was still very problematic.) More importantly, I believe, it gave me CONFIDENCE! -- especially after facing my fear of speaking to large crowds in public spaces. Later I saw that speaking before people could be PLEASUREABLE (something I couldn't have imagined before). Also I learned to feel that public speaking was something that I could not only do extremely well -- but oftentimes better than the most sales and other professionals I had encountered (not that it's true...but I BELIEVED IT!) So yes, it helped me personally and increased my speech fluency I'd like to believe.
