Yes Katie, you hit the nail well and truly on the head there. It's the flakey feeling of having no control over a stressful situation which does the damage. Is there an opposite chemical to adrenaline? If so then that is the one which seems to flood through me in such situations.
The answer for me must be to deal with that kind of actual stress and not the percieved stress of stuttering.
