John & Sharon Howley, Mattie sounds like a neat kid. I have worked with autistic children before and most recently autistic twins. I have worked with them since they were 3, they are now 8. I believe that Applied Behavior Analysis and Discrete Trial training made those years of working with them possible. I had those same feelings John had. I think it is ok that Sharon can advocate for Mattie. I think Mattie does affect John's speech to an extent. But I think John would still feel stress even if Mattie didn't have autism. What kind of therapy does Mattie get in school? What kind of help besides relaxation is John getting for his stuttering? Good Luck.
