Larry, I just want to thank you for writing this article. I am currently a graduate student and for the past few years have wondered about this very subject. I've always wondered if there was a connection between Social Phobia and Stuttering. The way you put out the information made me want to research the idea a little further. For me the question always comes down to a chicken or the egg question. Which comes first? The stuttering develops from the social phobia or the social phobia develops into stuttering.
Personally for me, I have some social phobia characteristics (even though I am not diagnosed), and in certain situations I am more dysfluent. So thank you again and also for provided some great references.
