This article made me realize how important self-esteem is to our lives. Self-esteem reflects your inner self and gives your communication partners a chance to see your vulnerability. If someone has a low self-esteem, others usually do not think highly of them and may judge them. It is extremely important to help our clients who stutter explore their self-esteem. Even though our role is speech therapy, I believe our role includes helping our clients accept their stuttering. We also need to be sensitive that change will be slow, but with guidance can be really powerful.
