Hi Mollie, The feeling of isolation can exacerbate any problem - not just stuttering. I am the co-owner of the world's largest internet group for persons who stutter and note the immense feeling of relief when new members join our ranks. Being able to share one's problem with others greatly relieves their burden. My darling wife has always been so supportive throughout our courtship and marriage. It was she who persuaded me (4 years ago) to make one final effort to deal with my stuttering difficulties. As a result, I joined a programme that encouraged greater openness and desensitization. You may wish to read my previous post to Rebecca (entitled 'Talking Out')in which I explain what happened in greater detail. Today, I will discuss my stuttering history with anyone, without fear, shame, embarrassment or any hang-ups. It really is exhilarating and liberating. Life is so exciting and much more meaningful nowadays. Thank you, so much, for contributing to this discussion. Your comments are greatly appreciated. Kindest regards Alan
