I enjoyed your article on the importance of counseling parents; not just providing them with information. I hope parents will visit this site and read your paper. Student clinicians are now required to take counseling courses at the graduate level, but I wonder what clinicians out in the field are doing about this area? Your article provides a great framework of ideas to incorporate into therapy, but without actually taking a counseling class, it would be difficult to feel confident enough with these listening skills to effectively counsel parents. Do you know if ASHA will be requiring ALL clinicians to eventually take counseling courses? I can't imagine learning all these skills in a weekend workshop, and it's too important to ignore. Thank you for your time and ideas, Linda Geer
