Robyn, We agree that decisions about counseling depend upon the individual needs of the client and his or her family members. There is no one recipe for counseling. Although information-giving is certainly a part of the counseling relationship, and perhaps the easiest of the techniques for most of us to use, the attitudinal/emotional aspects of counseling require that a relationship develops between the clinician/counselor and the client or parents.
