Hello. I'd like firstly to thank you for a very informative article. I am currently a Post-Baccaleaureate student in Speech Language Pathology, and am tempted to echo some of the concerns of other students that I have seen in the discussion. I am feeling under-prepared to take on the role of a counselor, and, as this is not the area that I have chosen to study, am feel apprehensive about my own skils in this area. Your article has cemented a need to study this aspect of the field. I am also wondering-has there been much collaborative work between SLP's and licensed counselors in the adjustment counseling of families of people who stutter? It seems as though a cross-discipline, team approach might be a more effective tool than for me to try to cram some Psychology classes into my already busy schedule of courses over the next three years. How realistic do you think this approach would be? Can you point me in the direction of any literature concerning the overlap of the two very similar, yet distinct career paths?
