I was so excited to read your article Intensive Treatment: Let’s take a look at teens, especially since it was a treatment program conducted in a group setting. I think that although individual therapy has obvious benefits, additional group therapy can provide so many opportunities for practice, support, and improvement. Knowing that there are so many different definitions of stuttering, I was wondering what characteristics and guidelines were involved when determining the participants’ percent of syllables stuttered. I am currently attending a stuttering course at Western Washington University and discovering that different definitions of stuttering can directly impact a client’s resulting label of severity. Were prolongations, single syllable whole word repetitions, part word repetitions, phrase repetitions, and struggle behavior all included in your definition?
