Thank you for sharing this recording along with your insightful comments. I unfortunately was not able to meet the 1st generation of “great ones” in our field. I am thankful for the materials they left behind and especially enjoy the various audio presentations available on the stuttering homepage. I can’t help but draw an analogy to the great jazz musicians such as Charlie Parker, Miles Davis and John Coltrane who were influential in developing and pushing the boundaries of music. I learned so much as a musician by listening to those amazing yet different artists. I learned about creativity, passion and respect. Respect for the music and the respect that they had for each other. In listening to this recording I’m struck by how Joseph Sheehan and Charles Van Riper shared those same qualities.
