I'm a graduate student in speech language pathology and I'm currently taking an advanced stuttering course. I thought the things you wrote were as helpful as the information I'm learning in class. It is important for us as professionals to remember that parents know their children better than anyone. Your comments can be used when treating children with any disorder. I liked your suggestion to therapists to meet with parents frequently to discuss what is happening in therapy and allow parents to ask questions. Also, because the field of speech language pathology is growing rapidly, there will most likely be areas in which I am not proficient. It is my duty to acknowledge this to parents and clients.
