Gina, Thank you for sharing your story. It is hard to believe that children can be so cruel. Not only do we need to make ourselves available to children to come talk to, but we need to try to prevent bullying from happening as much as possible. Setting good examples and teaching the children about respect and tolerance of other people is the first step in prevention. What suggestions would you give a speech therapist not only preventing bullying, but in taking care of situations when children are fearful to talk about it? If you had been seeing a speech therapist, what could they have done to help you in your situation?
