Gina, One of the first thoughts as I was reading your article was shame on the teachers that you had. How didn't they notice that you were being tormented by these bullies. Well, I soon learned later in your paper that bullies know how to play the game, per say. As you mentioned, they wait until the teacher moves, and then they make theirs. It's so unfortunate that you had to experience those encounters, but I am proud that you are taking steps to make these situations known to children, parents, and teachers. As you said, children can be so cruel and, like stuttering, is not talked about enough. I know there are tools out there to help children learn to cope with bullying. Some offer information as to how to respond when teased about stuttering, but there may still be bullying even if the child does not stutter and I think from your experiences, we can all learn so much. I have two chilren of my own. Although, they have not shown any instances of stuttering, they will eventually go to school and, like most children, be bullied at some point in time. So, thanks for reminding me to take the time to stop my busy schedule and just be there for my children to ensure them that I am always there for them. You seem to be a wonderful person, and stronger than I will probably ever be because of the experiences that you've had. Best of luck with all of your future endeavors and keep working to get the word out that this is something that can't go unnoticed. Sincerely, Lillie
