Miodrag suggested I respond to Heidi's comment on the timing of taking action and I'll give it a try. From my experience the most common time for many people (including PWS) to begin taking action concerning a problem they are facing is during their early 20s. There are many reasons for this and it may vary somewhat across cultures. I suspect it has to do with realizing that the problem isn't going to go away, that we have to survive on our own after leaving our traditional family unit or school etc. and that we are sick of living as we have for many years. I think that if you can find help in the form of a clinician who understands your situation and with whom you can form an effective therapeutic alliance you have a better chance of making useful changes. If you can't you may have alternatives such as the connection and correspondence that Miodrag and I have initiated. Group therapy and support group alliances are also quite important in promoting change, especially over the long term. They all foster alternative ways of considering your situation and that seems to be an important first step. In any case, I am looking forward to meeting Miodrag at the International Stuttering Association Conference in 2007.
