Thank you for this very interesting article. I am a graduate student and I really like the idea of having clients take ownership of their goals and monitor thier progress during therapy. I was wondering, however, if you ever find that self-monitoring leads to frustration when clients have comparitively difficult days? I know for articulation therapy they teach us to be very discrete about our tallys so that clients don't get frustrated and give up. Do you find that the benefits of teaching self-monitoring generally outweight the risk of increased frustration? Thank you! Meredyth Glass
