I too am a Communication Sciences major in Speech Language Pathology and share similar questions with Gabrielle about actual techniques to motivate clients. Also, I appreciate Gunars and Carla's posts, it helps to know the questions they are asking even after time in the field. I wonder, since everyone has to find their own delicate balance of responsiblity to self and client, are you a proponent of counseling for SLPs? How do you think clinicians who struggle to step back from doing too much for the client can begin to acquire the perspective you recommend?
