Hi Todd, the scenario in the article rarely occurs. Usually if I am asked about my stuttering, I talk about it, the parents say okay, and that's fine. I have had one parent who I talked with on the phone who never called me back to start therapy who I think may have done so because of my stuttering, but may have done so for any one of a million other reasons, as well. The answers to a lot of your other questions, for me, are NO. The speech of the therapist really doesn't matter. To me, it makes no sense to have "fluent therapists" and "stuttering therapists" any more than it makes sense to have "white therapists" or "Jewish therapists" or "therapists with really nice teeth." It doesn't matter. If my son stuttered, there are stuttering therapists that I would want to take him to and there are fluent therapists. Conversely, there are stuttering therapists that I would not want to be in the same room with my son, and the same goes for fluent therapists. Take care, Joe K.
