Victoria, I often tell clients about the difficulty that my grad students have when they need to pseudo-stutter or use techniques in real-life. It is a great way for the clients to see that what they are attempting is really, really, really hard! I also am continually amazed how hard it is for SLPs to practice what they preach and demonstrate any techniques outside of the therapy room. As Joe said earlier, a clinician should never ask a client to do something that the clinician is not able to model.
